Software simulations

Recourse vs Guidde

Guidde and Recourse both start from a capture of someone using software. Guidde turns it into a narrated video and a step guide, so people can see how a process is done when they need it. Recourse turns it into a simulation the learner performs, step by step, and is scored on. The question is not which tool is better; it is whether your learners need to watch the task or do it.

Short answer

Choose Guidde if your job is to document software processes as polished, narrated videos and guides that people watch when they get stuck. Choose Recourse if your job is to make people practise the task in a safe copy of the app and send a pass or fail to the LMS.

Where each tool starts

Guidde calls itself "the #1 AI platform to capture knowledge and train teams" and, further down its home page, "the first AI Digital Adoption Platform". You capture a workflow with the browser extension (desktop and mobile capture come with Business), and Guidde generates a video with an AI script, AI voiceover, captions and cursor effects, plus a step document. Videos export as MP4, GIF, PPT and PDF and can be turned into knowledge base articles. Business adds interactive demos, described as "Turn any capture into a click-through demo", where viewers click hotspots to move through the product. Enterprise adds Generative Quizzes, SCORM export, translation, and Broadcast, which shows guiddes inside the apps your team works in.

Recourse starts from the same act. Click through the task in the real app with the Chrome extension, which captures the screens, the clicks and the structure, or upload any recording: a Loom, a Zoom share, a recorded UAT or handover session, an old MP4. The output is a simulation with three modes. Demo is a guided walkthrough with narration. Practice has the learner do each step in a safe copy; if they get stuck they see a hint, then a nudge, then the answer. Evaluate is a scored assessment with a pass mark that reports to the LMS. A reviewer edits every step before it ships, and the simulation sits inside a course, with AI voice narration or your own.

Where Guidde is ahead

  • Video polish. AI scripts, voiceover, Magic Mic narration, cursor effects, brand kits and a drag-and-drop editor produce a finished how-to video quickly. Recourse does not make standalone videos.
  • A published, low price. Guidde lists Pro at $19 per creator a month billed yearly and has a free plan with no time limit. Recourse's paid plans are on request.
  • Breadth of content and pages. Guidde has application pages for Dynamics 365, SAP, NetSuite, Salesforce, HubSpot, ServiceNow and Workday, a public gallery, and conversion of MP4, PPT, PDF and Doc files into guiddes.
  • Delivery inside other tools. Broadcast, Guidde Ask and an MCP connector put answers from your guiddes where people already work. Recourse has no in-app layer.
  • Maturity. Guidde says over 10,000 teams use it. Recourse is new.

Where Recourse is ahead

  • The output is not a video. In Practice the learner performs each step in a safe copy of the app and is coached with a hint, a nudge, then the answer. Guidde's interactive demos let viewers click through hotspots, but Guidde does not describe what happens on a wrong click.
  • A score for doing the task. Evaluate scores the learner on the steps they perform, with a pass mark, and reports it to the LMS. Guidde's Generative Quiz asks questions about the video, on Enterprise only.
  • SCORM before Enterprise. Recourse exports static SCORM and xAPI from Pro, and Team adds live SCORM. Guidde's SCORM export is an Enterprise feature.
  • Built as training. The simulation sits inside a course with course blocks, themes, AI editing and Rise import, and can be built from Claude or ChatGPT over MCP.

What Recourse does not do

No live-app overlay or in-app guidance. No branching yet: each simulation follows one right path. Branching is on the roadmap. No LTI, cmi5 or AICC. No native LMS. No threaded review comments. Desktop applications only through an uploaded video. If the job is a library of how-to videos or help inside the app, Guidde is the better fit.

Pricing

Guidde prices per creator, and viewers are free. Free covers up to 25 how-to videos. Pro is $29 a month or $19 billed yearly, and removes the watermark and adds video, PPT and PDF export. Business is $59 a month or $39 billed yearly, adding desktop capture, interactive demos and analytics, with a 7-day trial. Enterprise is quote-based and holds SCORM export, SSO and SCIM, multi-language translation, Broadcast and Generative Quizzes.

Recourse is free for 30 days with full access. Paid plans (Solo, Pro, Team): pricing on request, book a demo at /pricing. Free has full access with a watermark and includes the Chrome extension. Solo is courses only, shared by Recourse link, with no SCORM export. Pro adds simulations, the Chrome extension, static SCORM and xAPI. Team is three seats with unlimited simulations, live SCORM.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Guidde and Recourse?
Guidde turns a capture of a workflow into a narrated how-to video and step guide that people watch or read, and can deliver those videos inside other apps. Recourse turns a capture or a recording into a simulation the learner performs step by step in a safe copy of the app, with Demo, Practice and Evaluate modes and a score sent to the LMS.
Does Guidde have quizzes or assessments?
Yes, on Enterprise. Guidde's Generative Quizzes are AI-written questions with two to four answer options, placed at a step in a video, with an optional passing score. They check that the viewer understood the video, not whether they can do the task in the app. Recourse's Evaluate mode scores the learner on performing the steps.
Does Guidde export SCORM?
Yes, SCORM 1.2 or 2004, on the Enterprise plan only. Guidde says edits you publish are reflected in the SCORM package without a re-upload, and quizzes are included. Recourse exports static SCORM and xAPI from Pro, and live SCORM on Team.
How much does Guidde cost?
Guidde has a free plan with up to 25 how-to videos. Pro is $29 per creator a month, or $19 billed yearly. Business is $59 per creator a month, or $39 billed yearly, with a 7-day trial. Enterprise is quote-based and is where SCORM, quizzes, SSO and translation sit.
Can Guidde make interactive software simulations?
Guidde's Business plan turns a capture into a click-through demo where viewers click hotspots to move through the product. Guidde does not describe hints, wrong-click handling or a score for those demos. For practice where the learner must do each step and is assessed on it, Recourse, iorad or Adobe Captivate are the closer fit.
