The short version
- Recourse is in early access. It changes often, it can break, and it may go away.
- Your content stays yours. What you generate is yours to use.
- AI outputs can be wrong. Review everything before you publish it or train anyone with it.
- We do not guarantee your data will be kept. Export anything that matters.
- It is free right now. We will tell you before that changes.
1The agreement
These terms are the agreement between you and the team operating Recourse. They apply when you use recoursehq.com, app.recoursehq.com, or anything else we provide under the Recourse name. In these terms, "Recourse", "we", and "us" mean that team, and "you" means the person using the service.
By creating an account or using Recourse, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using Recourse for an employer or a client, you confirm you have the authority to accept these terms on their behalf, and "you" includes them.
If you do not agree with any part of this, do not use Recourse.
2Early access
Recourse is an early-access product under active development. It is not a finished, stable, or fully tested service, and you should not treat it as one.
That means, specifically:
- Features can change, move, or disappear without notice.
- The service may be slow, unavailable, or broken at times. There is no uptime commitment and no service level agreement.
- We may limit usage, cap file sizes, or throttle processing at any time.
- We may discontinue Recourse entirely.
- Anything labelled beta, preview, or coming soon is especially likely to change.
Please do not build a critical workflow on Recourse yet. If you do, that is your risk to carry.
3Your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use Recourse. Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us at hello@recoursehq.com straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
One account is for one person. Do not share logins.
4Your content
"Your content" means everything you upload, record, or type into Recourse, and the courses, videos, transcripts, and other material generated from it.
You own your content. We do not claim any ownership of it.
To run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, transcode, analyse, and create derivative versions of your content, solely so we can operate Recourse and deliver the service to you. This licence exists only for that purpose and ends when you delete the content, subject to copies persisting in backups until those expire.
You confirm that you own your content or have all the rights, licences, and permissions needed to upload it and to let us process it as described here and in the Privacy Policy.
We do not use your content to train AI models.
5What you may not upload
Do not put any of the following into Recourse:
- Content you do not have the rights to, including material that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, or harmful material.
- Malware or anything designed to damage or disrupt systems.
- Personal information about other people without a lawful basis and appropriate notice to them.
- Sensitive data such as health records, government identifiers, or payment card numbers.
- Content that is confidential to a third party, or subject to regulatory restrictions that we have not agreed to in writing.
- Anything you cannot afford to lose. See section 9.
6Outputs and accuracy
Recourse generates content automatically using AI. Outputs can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, or plainly wrong. This applies to transcripts, summaries, courses, quizzes, translations, simulations, and generated audio and video.
You are responsible for reviewing and verifying every output before you publish it, distribute it, or use it to train anyone. A qualified person on your side must sign off on accuracy. This matters most for compliance, regulatory, safety, medical, financial, or legal training, where a wrong answer has consequences.
Nothing Recourse generates is legal, regulatory, compliance, medical, financial, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for someone who is qualified to give it.
Because outputs are generated by AI models, similar inputs may produce similar outputs for different users. We do not claim your outputs are unique, and we do not guarantee they do not resemble existing third-party material. Checking that is your responsibility.
As between you and us, outputs generated from your content belong to you, subject to these terms and to the terms of any third-party model provider involved.
7Acceptable use
Do not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or try to extract the source code or models behind Recourse.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the service.
- Resell, sublicense, or provide Recourse to third parties as your own service.
- Get around usage limits, rate limits, or access controls.
- Use Recourse to build a competing product.
- Interfere with the service, other users, or our infrastructure.
Security researchers are welcome. If you want to test something, email us first at hello@recoursehq.com and we will work with you.
8Free access and fees
Recourse is free during early access. Trials, extended trials, and demo credits are offered at our discretion and can be changed or withdrawn.
We expect to introduce paid plans. If we do, we will give you notice by email before your account is charged anything, and you will be able to stop using Recourse instead. We will not charge you without your explicit agreement.
9Retention and loss
We do not guarantee that your content will be retained, backed up, or recoverable. Export or keep your own copy of anything you rely on.
Content may be deleted, altered, or lost as we change the platform. We may delete content or accounts, including accounts that have been inactive for an extended period. We will try to give notice by email first, but we cannot promise it. Section 8 of the Privacy Policy has the full detail.
10Suspension and termination
You can stop using Recourse whenever you like. To close your account, email hello@recoursehq.com from the address on the account.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, including if we believe you have broken these terms, if your use creates risk for us or other users, or simply because we are changing or shutting down part of the product.
When your account ends, your content may be deleted and may not be recoverable. Sections 6, 13, 14, 15, and 17 survive termination.
11Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or feature requests, we can use them freely, without restriction and without owing you anything. We would rather have your honest feedback than a clean legal boundary around it, and this clause is what lets us act on it quickly.
12Third-party services
Recourse relies on third parties for sign-in, hosting, transcription, AI generation, and other functions. Those providers are listed in section 6 of the Privacy Policy. Their own terms apply to their services, and we are not responsible for what they do or for any content or site we link to.
13Disclaimer
Recourse is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any output will be accurate, complete, current, or fit for your purpose.
14Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, content, profits, revenue, business, goodwill, or anticipated savings, arising from or relating to your use of Recourse, whether or not we were told such damages were possible.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to Recourse is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of the two paragraphs above may not apply to you. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
15Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify us against any claim, loss, or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your content, your use of Recourse, or your breach of these terms or of any law or third-party right.
16Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as the product develops. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will tell you by email or in the product before it takes effect. Continuing to use Recourse after that means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, stop using the service and ask us to close your account.
17Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bengaluru, India, without regard to conflict of law rules. You and we agree that the courts of Bengaluru, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that either of us may seek injunctive relief in any court with jurisdiction.
Before filing anything, please email hello@recoursehq.com. We would much rather talk.
18General
- Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Recourse and replace anything said before.
- Severability. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not transfer this agreement without our written consent. We may transfer it in connection with incorporation, a reorganisation, a financing, or a sale of the business, and we will note the change on this page.
- No third-party beneficiaries. This agreement is between you and us only.
