Articulate Rise 360 vs Easygenerator

Both are browser-based tools for building responsive courses quickly from existing material, and both now draft with AI and publish hosted SCORM packages that update in place. The differences are in what you are buying (a suite versus a single tool), how you pay (per seat a year versus per author a month), and the fine print on collaboration and updates. This page does not recommend any third product.

Head to head

Facts checked on 29 October 2026 against each vendor's own pages.

Short answer

Choose Rise if you want the Articulate suite around it: Storyline for custom interactions and simulations, Review 360 for stakeholder feedback, the Reach LMS with 300 learners included, and 80+ language translation. Choose Easygenerator if the authors are subject-matter experts rather than designers, you want month-to-month pricing with a real free plan to fall back on, and you need learner results tracked without an LMS. Price per author is close at one seat and tilts toward Easygenerator at five.

What you are actually buying

Rise 360 cannot be bought alone. It is one of the tools in Articulate 360 AI, alongside Storyline 360 (Windows desktop, slide-based), Review 360 (web review with no licence needed for reviewers) and Reach (a native LMS). The suite was renamed and repackaged in September 2026 with a credits meter for the heavier AI jobs.

Easygenerator is one browser-based product with add-ons: EasyTranslate (75 languages), EasyVideo (document or screen recording to narrated video) and EasyCoach (AI role-play). EasyAI, the drafting assistant, is included in every plan.

Two notes on the numbers. Articulate's page showed a promotional $1,198 per seat against the $1,749 list on the day we checked, with placeholder text suggesting a regional offer; budget on the list price. Easygenerator's Team plan starts at five authors, so there is no published price for two to four authors other than buying Pro seats.

Publishing and the hosted-package question

Both publish standard packages: Rise outputs AICC, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5; Easygenerator outputs SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 4th edition, xAPI, LTI 1.2 and PDF, with no cmi5 or AICC.

Both also now offer a hosted package, which is the thing to read carefully. The LMS gets a small SCORM file that points at content on the vendor's servers, so edits reach learners on their next launch without a re-upload.

  • Rise Connected Packages shipped in the 7 October 2026 release after a Labs period. You choose SCORM 1.2 or 2004 and tick "Connected package"; learners can be shown an update banner. Articulate's staff advise against it for courses that need strict audit trails, enhanced compliance procedures or LMS version-history tracking, and learners must be able to reach Articulate-hosted content at launch.
  • Easygenerator Dynamic SCORM hosts course and media files on Easygenerator (AWS, Frankfurt). You click "Update course" to push. It is not available for the xAPI package, and adding, deleting or reordering sections, content or questions forces in-progress learners to restart; a learner who skipped two or more published versions loses progress regardless.

For Articulate's own LMS the story is different: Reach does not auto-update. You choose "Publish Updates", learners are not notified, and completed learners keep their completion with new content not required.

AI drafting

Rise's AI Assistant, now under the Nova agent, turns a prompt or document into an outline, lesson or full draft, writes quizzes, generates images and text-to-speech with "thousands of AI voices", and connects to Google Drive, OneDrive, Claude and ChatGPT. Course generation is included in 360 AI and Hybrid but not Frontline; avatars and translation draw credits.

EasyAI builds a course from a PowerPoint, PDF or Word file, suggests structure, generates questions from a prompt, edits images, and since August 2026 includes an agent that creates and refines a whole course through conversation. Easygenerator names its providers (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) and mentions no credit limits.

Translation

Articulate translates into 80+ languages with in-context validation and, since October 2026, formality control; it is credit-metered on every plan and was previously a $5,000-a-year add-on. Easygenerator's EasyTranslate covers 75 languages, keeps all language versions in one SCORM file, added glossary upload in October 2026, and is an unpriced add-on.

Collaboration and review

Rise on the Teams plan has real-time co-authoring, and Review 360 gives threaded, in-context comments with due dates to reviewers who need no licence. Easygenerator has co-authoring, in-app comments with mentions, and an External Review link for non-users, but only on Team and Enterprise; a single Pro author reviews by sharing the course.

Tracking without an LMS

Easygenerator's Gradebook tracks results per course and learner natively, with CSV export on Team and Enterprise, and direct publishing to Cornerstone, LearnUpon, HowNow, Degreed and others. Articulate relies on Reach (dashboard, CSV, reminders) or trackable links; beyond that, tracking is whatever your LMS reports from the package.

What users complain about

On G2, Articulate 360 holds 4.7 out of 5 from roughly 950 reviews (October 2026) with complaints about cost and credits, Rise's limited customisation (one reviewer could not change a title's font colour), and Storyline being Windows-only. Easygenerator holds 4.8 from about 110 reviews; its complaint tags are "limited customization" and "limited flexibility", plus the lack of an API. Both products, in other words, trade control for speed, and reviewers of both notice.

Choose Rise 360 if

  • You want Storyline, Review 360 and Reach in the same subscription.
  • Your courses need 80+ languages or AI avatars and you can live with credits.
  • Annual per-seat billing fits how you buy software.

Choose Easygenerator if

  • Your authors are SMEs who will never open a slide tool.
  • You want monthly billing, no card for the trial, and a free plan to fall back on.
  • You need learner results without an LMS, or direct publishing into one of its integrated LMSs.

Frequently asked questions

Is Easygenerator cheaper than Articulate Rise?
For one author, Easygenerator Pro is $1,499 a year against $1,449 for Articulate 360 AI Personal, so they are close. Articulate's price buys the whole suite including Storyline; Easygenerator's buys one author with a 10-course and 100-learner cap. For five authors, Easygenerator Team is $7,495 a year while five Articulate Teams seats are $8,745.
Can I buy Rise 360 on its own?
No. Rise 360 is part of Articulate 360 AI, which also includes Storyline 360, Review 360 and the Reach LMS. The Frontline tier from $500 a year does not include Rise or Storyline.
Which one updates a published SCORM course without a re-upload?
Both, since October 2026. Rise has Connected Packages, which Articulate does not recommend where strict audit trails or LMS version history are required. Easygenerator has Dynamic SCORM, which is not available for xAPI packages and restarts in-progress learners after structural edits.
Does either tool record software simulations?
Neither Rise nor Easygenerator has an interactive try-it simulation. Articulate's suite does it through Storyline 360, which records the screen and builds View, Try and Test slides. Easygenerator's EasyVideo turns a screen recording into a narrated video.
