SAP Enable Now vs WalkMe Learning Arc

This is less a choice than a transition. SAP acquired WalkMe in September 2024, announced WalkMe Learning Arc in September 2025, and has told Enable Now customers that renewals end in April 2027. Most people reading this own Enable Now and need to know what Learning Arc does, what carries over, and what to do in the meantime. Every fact here comes from SAP's and WalkMe's own pages. This page does not recommend any third product.

Updated

Head to head

Facts checked on 29 October 2026 against each vendor's own pages.

Short answer

Learning Arc is a younger, AI-led product that records web and desktop workflows, builds Demo, Practice and Test simulations, exports SCORM 1.2 and 2004, and is wired into the WalkMe platform and SAP Joule. Enable Now is the mature desktop authoring suite with the richer output set (Concurrent mode, AICC, Word and PowerPoint, SAP Companion in-app help) and macro-by-macro re-recording. Content moves across as non-editable microlearnings, so plan the move around what you will re-record anyway, and start a Learning Arc trial before the April 2027 renewal cut-off forces the timing.

The dates

  • 12 September 2024. SAP completes the WalkMe acquisition, having said in June that "integrating distinctive e-learning features in the SAP Enable Now solution with WalkMe" would be central.
  • 16 September 2025. WalkMe introduces Learning Arc, in beta with general availability "later this year".
  • February 2026. Q1 2026 release adds desktop workflow capture via WalkMe Menu for Desktop, including SAP GUI, and SAP Translation Service for SAP environments.
  • 30 April 2027. Last date for renewing an active Enable Now subscription, per an SAP employee blog on SAP Community (May 2026).
  • Q4 2026. One-click publishing from Learning Arc to SAP SuccessFactors Learning, per WalkMe's October 2026 blog.
  • 30 November 2030. End of support for Enable Now Cloud and for Producer, per SAP and WalkMe.

What carries over

WalkMe's transition article describes importing existing Enable Now content, converting it into microlearnings and publishing it to the Learning Arc portal. The constraint is in the same article: "Transitioned content items are not directly editable in WalkMe Learning Arc." Edits happen in Producer, connected to Learning Arc by API key, which is why Producer stays supported until 2030. SAP's December 2025 blog adds that "digital adoption content from SAP Companion (like guided tours and hot spots) is excluded from this process"; that content would be rebuilt in the WalkMe DAP.

In practice there are three buckets. Simulations and documents you still use: import them now, and accept that they are frozen until re-recorded in Learning Arc. Companion in-app content: rebuild in WalkMe. Everything recorded against application versions that have since changed: let it go and re-record the ones people open.

Where Enable Now is still stronger

  • Concurrent mode and the breadth of Word, PowerPoint and AICC outputs.
  • Macro-by-macro re-recording that compares object position, identifier and size, which Learning Arc does not describe.
  • Citrix recording through graphical recognition, and SAP Companion for desktop applications.
  • Fourteen years of SAP-specific authoring practice and a large installed base.

Where Learning Arc is stronger

  • AI course generation with quizzes and interactive elements from a recording.
  • A 30-day trial you can start today, which Enable Now never offered.
  • Integration with WalkMe's analytics, the Joule action bar, and (from Q4 2026) one-click publishing to SuccessFactors Learning.
  • A future. Enable Now has none after 2030.

What users should watch

Enable Now has few public reviews (about 4.3 on G2 from five), and the complaint that follows every re-record tool, that application changes mean re-recording, applies to it too. Learning Arc is too new for a review record; its help centre is candid that LMS updates are manual and that data flows one way, to the LMS only.

Choose to stay on Enable Now until 2027 if

  • Your library is current and heavily used, and you need Concurrent mode or AICC.
  • Your rollout calendar makes a 2026 tool change riskier than a 2027 one.

Move to Learning Arc now if

  • You are starting new content for a 2027 release and want it editable in the product you will keep.
  • You already run the WalkMe DAP and want one platform.
  • You want to trial it before the renewal decision rather than after.

Frequently asked questions

When does SAP Enable Now end?
According to an SAP employee blog on SAP Community dated May 2026, renewals of active Enable Now subscriptions will not be possible beyond 30 April 2027, and the Enable Now Cloud solution will be available and supported until 30 November 2030. WalkMe's help centre says the Producer will remain supported until 30 November 2030.
Does Enable Now content transfer to Learning Arc?
Partly. WalkMe's transition process imports existing Enable Now content, converts it into microlearnings and publishes it to the Learning Arc portal, but transitioned items are not directly editable in Learning Arc; edits still happen in Producer connected by API key. SAP Companion in-app content such as guided tours and hotspots is excluded.
Does Learning Arc export SCORM?
Yes. A simulation can be exported as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, video or a SCORM package in Demo, Practice or Test mode, choosing SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004. Updates do not sync to the LMS; changes require a manual re-export. Enable Now exports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 3rd and 4th edition and AICC.
Can Learning Arc record SAP GUI?
Yes, since the Q1 2026 release, through the WalkMe Menu for Desktop agent, including cross-application processes. Enable Now records SAP GUI through its desktop Producer with SAP GUI Scripting enabled.

How we checked

Every figure was read from the linked page on 29 October 2026. SAP's own Q&A page on the transition was marked "under review" when we looked, so the renewal and support dates are cited from an SAP employee's post on SAP Community and from WalkMe's help centre. Corrections to hello@recoursehq.com.
